▸ In a sad turn of events during last night's activities, local teenager Bela Gage was found dead at Gainsbourg Resort as festivities were wrapping up. Local authorities have opened up an investigation regarding the circumstances around her death.

▸ Several houses were egged in height of last night's events. Locals are offering a small reward to anyone with information that may lead to identification of the culprits.

▸ Now for the weather, expect light showers from late morning to mid afternoon. Blackwell is expecting the storm to keep rolling through overnight, so drive safe!

[ looks after them, debating if he should follow or not. guys? ]

[ he doesn't want to deal with the angry sheriff either so he chooses to go after them. ]

[he's actually relatively calm when they drag their asses outside, so not angry just for the sake of being a disruptive piece of shit. he looks between them not expecting a party but doesn't begrudge it, just holds a hand out in request. smoke pls share the wealth]

tiredly she shuffles a hand into the inner pocket of her blazer to fish out the goods, taking one for herself before offering the open carton to him. she doesn't need to smoke this time, it's more of a social tick. she might as well since they're out. ]

I take it things didn't go as planned. [ only because she's got nothing else nice to say and he gets a dead kid get out of jail free card on that one. ]

[ hovers by the door before deciding to lean against the wall next to them. he doesn't smoke, but it doesn't bother him. crosses his arms. ]

[ he was supposed to say that at some point earlier but things got busy last night so. have your awkward condolences now. ]

[glances at ben to acknowledge it but doesn't have it in him to exert effort on the right thing to say as he takes the nicotiney offering and waits for her to provide a lighter. he doesn't smoke either, although he used to and sometimes the situation just calls for a throwback.]

He's an asshole. [you'll get real familiar with that fact the longer you're here]

They always are. [ she adds, having met enough of them in her time to make the call, while she reaches over to light Adam's cigarette after doing her own. a curious glance thrown over at ben if she's providing him with refreshments as well but ends up pocketing it at his indifference. ]

You bugging to get put on the case? [ she questions, leaving her hand in her pocket to rest. ]

Yeah, I'd be too.

[ the answer is pretty obvious so he cuts in. if his daughter was murdered he wouldn't trust it in the hands of Oliver either. ]

No. Wouldn't waste my breath trying. [there are some shots that are too long. with oliver's daddy in charge there's no budging him, he's not fighting that battle. thankfully the fucks he gives about being involved in an official capacity are next to nil and will do what he wants with or without the express permission of dictator dennington]

[ she shrugs, giving the cigarette a little tap. it wouldn't be right, hell it might even get him fired, but if she were him it wouldn't really matter whether or not if she was on the case.. if anything, he has all the more freedom to do what he has to without any supervisors breathing down his neck about paperwork and protocol. ]

[hums less than thoughtfully, that noise you make when you're technically part of a conversation without committing to it, watching the two of them distantly cigarette already more ash than tobacco]

It's what anyone would do. [ there's a cracked smile on her lips as she glances back at ben. of course she'd encourage it, it wasn't her division anyway. if she were in his shoes, she wouldn't need anyone or any excuse to look into it. even though she wasn't him, it was tempting.

she turns back a moment to watch adam wander off, pausing to shuffle into another pocket and stick her cigarette in between her lips.]

Hey, wait up. [ she calls after, quickly scrawling down a phone number on the pad before depositing it into his hand. ] If you need help with anything.

[ rubs the corner of his eye. he'd rather not be facing this personal tragedy any longer than necessary. it's bad enough when he has to go see unknown families that have lost their kids and now it's someone from his work and everything. ]

[ vaguely remembers leaving it somewhere. maybe. he's going back inside now. the lost girl was found but things aren't looking any more simple. later sluts. ]

[lifts the paper at her in thanks after he pays ben's retreating self a glance. drops what's left of the cigarette and stubs it out with his heel, appraising her before apparently deciding whatever he had to say could wait]

Yeah. I'll keep in touch. [the offer isn't unappreciated, it won't go remiss to have someone with access to the ongoing case while he's in time out] You too. [belatedly adds, like he momentarily forgot how to conversate normally. he's not writing his number out though you can look it up.]

[ she gives adam a little nod of acknowledgement, stepping out of his way again so that he may leave, tailing after the disappearing ben who's already made it inside. ben seems to forget how much work they still have to do despite oliver's whining, it's still their case. ]

Get some rest. [ she calls over her shoulder, god knows he needs it ]
